I will try to answer this question to the best of my ability. All the answers I will give here are inspired by the teachings of the Holy Spirit.
I will start by telling you about this dream that I had. As I already mentioned on other posts. God communicates to me through dreams. I will just go straight to the interpretation of the dream to save time.
In this dream, God instructed me to teach my little kids the Bible and help them develop relationship with Him. At first, I said “no” that I can’t. I gave all the excuses how I don’t know the Bible enough or maybe someone else, who has more knowledge and who is more experienced in teaching the Word of God, should do that. He told me that He will send me a divine Helper, and He also told me what my reward will be. After I made up my mind to do it, still in the dream, before I could get to the place where I will start the teaching, He sent me to do, an Angel was already there waiting for us, to help me out. When I woke up from the dream, I was marveled. I started battling with the thoughts of how I will be able to get the kids to leave television, computer-games and their mobile-phones and come sit with me listening to Bible Stories. But it was God that sent me, so, I will try and see how it goes. Months before that dream, I already had desires for my kids to know God and His Words, so I had everyone download the YouVersion Bible App on their phones. Then I started praying and hoping that one day, God will direct us to a good church where they will be taught about God, by professional Bible Teachers. The day we started the Bible study, it was so much fun to the point that they couldn’t even wait for the next session and the speed they use to understand, memorize and remember all the names and deep meanings behind each and every story still amazes me till today. This really showed that we have a Divine helper, whom is the Holy Spirit. He interprets to them and makes it easier for them to understand the stories in a supernatural way. Because for their age and my teaching ability, it wouldn’t have been possible at all.
But the first day we started the Bible study, we were in the Book of Genesis, and I was teaching them how God created the world. There was one question my 10-year-old son asked me, and that question stood out to me. That question was what inspired me to write this blog today. He asked, “if God created the universe and everything in it, who then created God? And who created the thing that created the thing that created God?” I battled with how to answer that question for some time, until the Holy Spirit starts to teach me things about God’s existence and creation. And that is what I want to share with you today.
No. 1. Who is God?
God is a Spirit Being. He is not human like us. Some people imagine God like every other created being like us. Some even say that the Universe or Nature is God. But that’s not true. The universe is created, the nature is created, and the creator is God who is Spirit. He cannot be seen with natural eye. And our 3 pounds brain does not even have the capacity to imagine or fathom all the things about the existence of God because, we are limited to that ability. We as created beings do not have the intelligence it takes to be able to comprehend everything about the existence of our Creator. Regardless of how smart you are or what a genius you are. It is impossible to be able to comprehend everything about God because His intelligence cannot be matched in any shape or form. And He intentionally made us that way. He intentionally limited our capacity so that in this life, we will always need Him. Any god we, as mortal beings, can understand and explain away is a man-made-god. If our 3 pounds brain can understand and explain how that god come into existence, then that is a man-made god and that is not the God we worship.
If God created the universe, who created God?
Our God, the Almighty God, Creator of the universe, is not created. The God I serve is neither made nor created by anything or anyone. Created gods are idols. In fact, God, the Creator of the universe, is not inside the universe. People imagine God as something that is inside this universe, but that’s not true. He is Spirit and omnipresent, so His Spirit is everywhere at the same time, but He is outside of his creations. He is outside the space and time. For example; the guys that created our mobile phones and computers are not inside the devices running the numbers but outside. Same way, God is not inside but outside His creations. He created the Space, the whole universe and everything inside, He created time too. And He is outside all these things. God is outside of space and time. Genesis chapter 1 tells us that “in the beginning God created heaven and earth” which was when time started, that means God already existed before the beginning. Meaning, He is outside of time. He has no beginning nor ending. God is eternal and “No” the universe is not God. The universe is created by God, and we did not just start existing by accident like the Scientists claimed, that a huge explosion known as “Big Bang” happened and everything just magically come into existence. That’s the most absurd thing to believe. In fact, it takes much more faith to be an atheist than to believe in the existence of a Creator. Everything around us, for example: we as human beings and animals, how carefully and well calculated our DNA was designed, the universe itself, the nature, the light and darkness, the moon, sun, stars, sea, ocean and lands, how carefully and how well calculated everything was designed points straight to an existence of a very intelligent Creator. All these things did not start existing because two particles collided, Big Bang happened and everything magically appeared. I do not understand how people believe this explanation of how we come into existence.
But I know most people become atheist and refuse to believe in existence of God because of some of the evil things that happen in the world.
Some people say, “how can a good God allow evil to happen to good people?”
There are so many reasons why evil happen, and we blame God most of the time. One thing we need to understand is that without evil, we won’t know or appreciate good. Yes, God created light and darkness, good and evil. But He also instructed us to choose good over evil. I will not go much further into this because I don’t have all the explanations but one thing, I know is that, If God created all good and no evil, we won’t be here today. Life will not have any meaning. Bad things need to exist for good things to be experienced. Hate is the opposite of Love. Without hatred, we would not have been able to comprehend the concept of love and experience it. We won’t love God or appreciate His love. Without poverty, we wouldn’t have been able to appreciate wealth. Without death, we wouldn’t have been able to experienced and appreciate life? Without illness, how would we have appreciated and understood what good health was?
I know there is moral evil, which I explained in the previous post, but there is also natural evil. It is very unfortunate that good people sometimes suffer and go through bad things, like natural disasters or illnesses that they didn’t cause or that are not caused by consequences of anybody’s sin, and we blame God for not stopping these types of suffering. But God knows and sees all these things, and He knows how to compensate, that’s why He gave us hope of eternal life. We are not here just to exist, eat, go to work, grow old and die, but we are here to have our earthly experience and after this life, there is eternal life which is where God compensates us for most of the evil that happened to us in this life that wasn’t because of the consequences of our sins.
Atheism and not believing in God, which most people become out of hurt and rebellion against God, offers no solution to the evil happening in this life and it offers no hope. So, atheism is not and will never be the solution to anything about life and suffering. Imagine telling a dying cancer patient that there is neither God nor eternal life, that once they die, they will stop existing. That’s hopelessness at its height! What hope does atheism provide for mankind? These are just the belief that the devil project to us, to make us keep rebelling against God because his agenda has always been to rebel against God and capture more souls for his kingdom.
